Marketing and PR Assistant

An exciting opportunity for a Marketing and PR Assistant to join the team of one of the Midlands’ most progressive and privately owned accountancy and business advisory firms.

The Marketing and PR Assistant will support the internal and external communications activity of Smith Cooper as well as their group companies. 

The successful candidate will be a creative individual with excellent written and communication skills who wants to expand their marketing knowledge across a breadth of areas including digital and social media, PR, advertising and events.

Working alongside the Marketing Manager, and liaising with colleagues around the Midlands, the Marketing and PR assistant will be working to ensure that the firm maintains their profile and converts that into profitable new business opportunities and long-lasting relationships. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Supporting the Marketing Manager in the delivery of the marketing plan
  • Creation and delivery of marketing materials across print and digital, internal and external channels 
  • Creation of engaging and informative content including press releases, blog posts and social media posts
  • Support in the delivery of the email marketing programmes, including creating data lists, populating the email template, arranging the send and monitoring key metrics 
  • Assist in the collation of research materials to support campaigns and individual client opportunities 
  • Support the Partners and senior team in the creation of practice group pitch documents 
  • Co-ordinate website content amends and update articles and material on the intranet along with exploring potential to integrate social media 
  • Organising and attending social and informative events
  • Writing and distributing press releases and developing relationships with relevant press contacts 

The successful candidate for the role of Marketing and PR Assistant will have:

  • A degree in Marketing, Media, Journalism or a related discipline
  • Previous marketing and/or journalism experience is an advantage
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Skilled in using MS Office and the Adobe suite of products
  • The ability to work with teams across all of our offices
  • Positive ‘can do’ approach with a self-starter attitude
  • Organised and efficient with a 'right first time' approach to quality of work, able to manage high volumes with minimum errors 
  • The ability to multitask and manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Experience using WordPress or other website CMS

The role is based in the heart of Nottingham city centre with travel to other offices occasionally required.
