Senior HR Manager (Internal)

An exciting opportunity for a strong, experienced HR professional to effectively manage HR activities across Smith Cooper and our group companies has arisen.

Based in either our Derby or Nottingham office and reporting to the Managing Partner and Executive Partner team, the Senior HR Manager will:

  • Have ultimate responsibility for all strategic and operational HR activities
  • Will accelerate the development of HR support to our growing business

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the HR strategy, to include a number of elements including training and development, employee engagement and communication and employee wellbeing strategy
  • Review, analyse and direct on key HR KPI’s to include, but not limited to, staff turnover, leaver analysis, sickness absence.
  • Drive the HR and recruitment Strategy proactively so as to ensure Smith Cooper remains the employer of choice
  • Keep up to date with, and react to, changes in legislation that affect HR and the business and ensure all Company policies are legally compliant
  • Manage the administration of the HR systems, to include employment documents, induction and compliant checks, and ensure timely and accurate data processing, liaising with line management and payroll as appropriate
  • Ensure that the appraisal process is carried out in accordance with the Company policy
  • Work with Executive members to ensure that key succession plans are in place
  • Overall responsibility for H&S within the business – ensure firm compliance with legal requirements
  • Drive best practice within the Company

You will have the following skills and experience:

  • CIPD Qualified
  • Ability to inspire confidence of the Executive team through development of strategy and timely delivery of information and plans and to be prepared to and effectively challenge the Partner Group where appropriate
  • Ability to work independently of the Managing Partner and Partner Group, but consult where appropriate
  • Previous experience of influencing Executive and Senior Managers
  • Previous experience of developing and delivering a HR strategy
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility, respect and working relationships with Executive Directors, Senior Managers and own Departmental staff
  • Previous experience of team working, including developing and nurturing team members as well as problem solving
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Demonstrate an understanding of personalities and behavioural styles in order to develop relationships and work with a variety of people
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and ability to apply it in a pragmatic and commercial way
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effectively plans ahead to anticipate problems
  • Solution focussed
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
